Secondary Math Education

SKC’s Division of Education is proud to offer it’s newest degree track: a secondary mathematics degree program which will lead to certification (licensure) in Montana to teach Math in middle and high school (grades 5 – 12). This program prepares teaching candidates to work with students at a level and in such a way that is beyond the memorization of algorithms and simple computation, and which approaches a deeper understanding of numeracy and logical reasoning – congruent with recent state and national shifts in mathematics instructional methods.

Secondary Science Education

We Need You.

Our Bachelor of Science [B.S.] in Secondary Science Education prepares you to become a licensed Broadfield science teacher in the state of Montana who is qualified to teach every science class at the middle or high school level (grades 5 – 12).  We help you succeed with supportive classes, tutoring, on-campus housing, scholarships, and financial support for new or returning students.

An essential feature of our Program is its emphasis on culturally revitalizing and sustaining teaching practices that help teachers sustain Indigenous cultures and languages through education.  This type of learning recognizes that students, their families, and their communities are resources we need to engage and grow students in middle and high school science classrooms.

The program includes science course work that helps you build a solid knowledge base in science.  You will take courses in everything from conservation biology and Indigenous science to astronomy and physics.  We make sure you are prepared with the knowledge you need to become a successful science teacher.

We have small classes that grow strong supportive connections between students and teachers that support your success in education.

We believe that learners should never have to check their identities at the classroom door, that whomever you are – Indigenous, non-Indigenous, Two-Spirit, artist, or science-nerd – there is a place for you to thrive in the science classroom.
