Dr. Merle Farrier

Dr. Farrier is responsible for coordinating SKC’s Special Education Endorsement and Special Education MEd programs as well as a MEd program in Educational Leadership in partnership with The University of Montana based upon a grant successfully written by Dr. Cindy O’Dell. Merle also teaches a research class in the Division of Education and a psychology class for the Psychology Department.

Dr. Farrier has worked 30 years in the Hot Springs School system as a teacher (23 years) and as a superintendent (7 years). He also worked 17 years at The University of Montana, 7 years of which were part time and 10 years full time where he taught graduate courses for the Department of Educational Leadership. Merle has also worked as a part time school psychologist for over 10 years where his primary role has been to test students who have been referred for special education services and to help design appropriate individual educational programs. Dr. Farrier graduated from Charlo High School and all three of his higher education degrees have been through The University of Montana. This is his fifth year with Salish Kootenai College.
